William Marletta Safety Consultants (WMSC) is a small specialized consulting firm that offers expert safety consulting services to manufacturers, insurance, commercial, governmental, and legal industries. We have safety consulting expertise in the areas of trip, slip and fall prevention, construction safety, fire safety, and security.
WMSC has served as consultants to The United States Department of Labor providing research and standards development assistance to OSHA for slip resistance standards in the construction industry. WMSC has also served as consultants to The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for research and standards development on slip resistance of fire truck apparatus and we have assisted United Parcel Service providing for inspection of sites, for the evaluation of hazards, and safety training of workers.
WMSC consultants are experienced in safety testing of products (i.e., slip resistance testing of surfaces, illumination testing, roughness testing, sharp edge testing, sharp point testing, noise sampling, sampling for vapor, gases, dusts, etc.), and are active in safety research and national safety standards development (ASTM, ANSI, ASSE). For example, Dr. Marletta is the past chairman of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) committee F13 "Safety and Traction", is presently serving on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) "Board of Standards Review", and is an American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) representative for the ANSI A117.1 committee on "Providing Accessibility & Usability for Physically Handicapped People".
Our consulting and forensic experience includes review and analysis of products and building design with regard to safety, accident analysis, safety training, and other aspects of safety program development. Our firm offers custom, in-house photography services and has the ability to provide enhanced graphic presentations and illustrations.
We are experienced in providing assistance with OSHA compliance, in providing safety inspections for the control of hazards onsite, and in the evaluations of products and equipment. We provide safety training, safety program development, and formulate opinions in the evaluation of accidents to determine their cause. Our experience often includes the use of applicable codes, rules, and standards in the safety field to assist in our evaluation of safety issues.
